It’s time for another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
Today we’re not listing books, but our goals for 2025.
Here are mine:
1. More Isabel Allende and Margaret Atwood
These two authors are my absolute favourites at the moment, and my goal is to read all their books. I’m currently at 6 for Allende and 5 for Atwood, so there will be lots of them this year, especially because they contribute to the two next goals…
2. More Canadian & Brazilian books
I’ve said before that I’m making an effort to read more Canadian and Brazilian literature, after discovering that my read list is very heavy in the European and American titles. One of the things that is helping me read more for these two countries is establishing that my most-read countries for each year need to be Brazil and Canada. This year is no exception.
3. Reading Latin America Challenge
This year I’m focusing most of my readings in Latin America. I have challenges set on Instagram and Storygraph if you want to join! My goal is to finish all remaining continent countries, but that might be a little ambitious.
4. Read more of my favourite authors
I want to discover new authors, without losing track of my favourite ones. The authors on my top 10 list are: Elena Ferrante, Itamar Vieira Jr., R.F. Kuang, Tan Twan Eng, Martha Batalha, Suzanna Clarke, Téa Obreht.
5. At least 1 author from Toronto
In my attempts to read more locally, I also want to discover new writers from the city I call home.
6. Re-read one book
I’m not a big fan of re-reading books, but I’ve been enjoying it once a year.
7. Read at least 25 books
I’m not setting ambitious goals for myself in terms of number of books I want to read. Last year I set the challenge at 24 (24 books in 2024 and so on) and ended up reading 48. So this this a really low-pressure one.
What about you? What are your goals?
