*Hi friends,
I’ll take a break from the blog while I deal with the loss of my cat Lucy and spend some time visiting my family in Brazil. The Weekly Opening Lines will continue, since they were already scheduled.
See you in December.
Every Saturday morning, I’ll share the first lines (or better yet, the first paragraph or first round idea) of a book I’m currently reading.
Here are the first lines of The Testaments, by Margaret Atwood:

“Only dead people are allowed to have statues, but I have been given one while still alive. Already I am petrified.
This statue was a small token of appreciation for my many contributions, said the citation, which was read by Aunt Vidala.”
Join me in the trend, grab the nearest book, and share the first lines in the comments with us. Or share the first line of a book you’ve recently reviewed and link to the post!
